The green card is the proof that shows that an individual is the permanent resident of the United States of America. Another name for the green card is the permanent resident card that serves as a proof that the person is the resident of US. When ever a person acquires a green card then they get the right to live, work or study over there. No one would be able to question his or her presence in the country. Generally the green card is granted to any person for a period of 10 years. On the expiry of the 10 years, that person has to apply for the renewing green card. The process of renewing green card is very simple and the person has to follow certain rules and has to comply according to it. 

Any person requires the renewing green card when they have been granted the green card for a period of 10 years and when only 6 months are left in the completion of 10 years, and then they should renew their green card. This application form is I-90 form that has to be duly filled and submitted along with other documents. The other documents are identification proof (driving license, residence proof etc), alien registration number, 3 passport size photographs, photocopy of the rear and front of the expiring green card, evidence of the last departure from the US, one can give the boarding pass or the airline ticket for the same. Along with these documents one has to give the renewing green card in dollars or euro. 

When the renewing green card office is satisfied with all the formalities, then they stick a temporary sticker on the green card. This temporary sticker is the temporary evidence that the individual is the resident of the US. When this temporary evidence is also going to expire, then that person should immediately apply to the USCIS office.
